The Local Area

The cottage is located on the Wild Atlantic Way on the Inishowen Peninsula in Co Donegal. It is our most Northerly Peninsula & Ireland’s most northerly point Malin Head, is at the tip of the peninsula.

Inishowen is home to some of Ireland least explored beaches and most spectacular coastal scenery and is often referred to as Ireland in miniature.

Spend your summer days finding new wild swimming spots. Don your walking boots and head up the Uris hills or Step onto the Wild Atlantic Way right from the door step of the cottage.

Explore Dunree Fort and its walking trails on foot, watching for Dolphins on the rising tide around the headland. Why not Jump off the jetty in the cove below the Fort for the wildest of sea swims, popular with locals on summer evenings. Nip to Mamore Gap to for summer sunsets and dramatic cloudscapes that whip over Lough Swilly with Fanad Lighthouse in the distance.

Take the drive to Malin head, Irelands most northerly point (and recently made famous as a Star Wars location) where Atlantic-pounded Sea stacks and navy deep waters create the most dramatic of film locations. Take the wild but scenic mountain road through Ballymagan to the fishing village at Greencastle and get your own fresh lobster right off the pier!

Or travel further afield for a day trip to The Seamus Heaney Home Place, The Giants Causeway or The Dark hedges .
